Jay Leno's Garage is an American automotive-based series that airs on CNBC. In this episode, Jay Leno travels to Santa Barbara, California, to meet up with a group of adrenaline junkies who have taken transportation to a whole new level. First up, he features the Icon A5, a plane that is designed to fly with ease over water. The Icon A5 has a sleek design and is made entirely of carbon fiber. It can be towed away on a trailer, making it easy to transport. The plane has two seats and is light enough to be flown without a pilot’s license. Jay Leno takes the plane for a spin and talks about its amazing features that allow pilots to enjoy the thrill of flying even when they’re not on a commercial plane.
Next, Jay Leno meets up with a crazy inventor who has created an amphibious bicycle that is totally off-the-wall. The inventor has taken two bikes, cut them in half, and then welded them together with a drive system that uses chains to propel the rear wheel. What makes this bike stand out is its ability to traverse through water and float quite easily. Jay Leno takes a spin on this wild creation and has a great time through water and then onto beach to wrap up the day.
Following his ride on the amphibious bicycle, Jay Leno heads over to the coast of Santa Barbara to test out the Killer Whale Submarine, a one-person sub that looks like, well, a killer whale! The Killer Whale Submarine is a miniature submarine that has been designed to mimic the movements of a real whale. The sub is controlled by a joystick and is propelled by powerful electric motors. Jay Leno takes the sub out for a spin and showcases how it moves in the water with ease.
Moving on, Jay Leno then features the Jet Surf, a unique surfboard that runs on a powerful gasoline engine. The Jet Surf is like a mix between a surfboard and a jet ski that provides surfers with the speed and power they need to enjoy the waves. Jay Leno hits the waves and tests out the unique Jet Surf with some experts from the company.
Lastly, Jay Leno meets up with a group of off-road enthusiasts who have taken transportation to another level. They have created an off-road vehicle that combines motocross-style tires with an ultra-lightweight chassis. The vehicle looks more like a go-kart but has the power of a dirt bike and the suspension system of a trophy truck. Jay Leno takes this wild ride through to test out the impressive speed and agility that it offers.
