Joan of Arc is a historical drama television series created by BYUtv. The show is based on the true story of Joan of Arc, the French heroine who became a religious martyr in the early 15th century. The show stars Milly Thomas as Joan of Arc, Yan Brian as Charles VII, and Orlando Seale as Jean d'Arc.

The series follows the life of Joan of Arc, a young peasant girl who experiences visions of saints and angels that tell her to drive the English out of France and help restore the rightful king, Charles VII, to the throne. Against all odds, Joan embarks on a dangerous journey to fulfill her divine mission and becomes a leader of the French army. As she leads her troops into battle, Joan not only captures the hearts of the French people but also becomes an inspiration to people around the world.

The show covers the major events in Joan of Arc's life, from her childhood to her ultimate execution at the hands of the English. We see her growing up in a small village, living a simple life until she starts to receive visions and voices that compel her to drop everything and fight for France's freedom. She journeys to the court of King Charles VII, where she convinces him of her divine mission and becomes the commander of his forces.

Joan's journey is fraught with danger, as she faces not only the English army but also the distrust of her own allies. We see her struggle with the burden of her own fame and try to reconcile her faith with her duty as a soldier. Along the way, she makes enemies and friends alike, including her eventual captors who put her on trial for heresy.

One of the strengths of the show is how it balances impressive battle scenes with more intimate character moments. We see Joan interacting with other soldiers, sharing her doubts and hopes with them, and confronting the hard realities of war. We get a sense of how hard it can be to lead people into battle, especially when the stakes are so high.

Milly Thomas delivers a powerful performance as Joan of Arc, capturing the character's youthful idealism and inner strength. She portrays Joan as someone who is determined to do the right thing, no matter how hard it is, and whose faith in God sustains her even in the darkest moments. Thomas also does an excellent job of conveying the physicality of the role, showing how Joan had to rely on her wits and her courage to survive.

Yan Brian is also impressive as Charles VII, the insecure king who is reluctant to trust Joan at first but eventually comes to see her as his greatest ally. Brian gives a nuanced portrayal of a man who is torn between his own doubts and his need for someone to help him win back his kingdom.

Orlando Seale is equally good as Jean d'Arc, Joan's older brother, who supports her from the very beginning but also tries to protect her from the dangers of the battlefield. Seale brings a sense of warmth and humor to the role, making Jean a likable and relatable character.

Overall, Joan of Arc is a well-crafted historical drama that offers an engaging look at one of history's most fascinating figures. The show is visually impressive, with gorgeous costumes and sets, and the performances are uniformly excellent. Though the story is a familiar one, the show manages to make it fresh and compelling, thanks in large part to Milly Thomas's captivating turn as Joan of Arc.
