Maya struggles to write a new column, leading her to seek advice from Nina. Nina suggests that Maya write about her own personal experiences, which leads Maya to recount the story of when she accidentally set her apartment on fire while trying to cook a romantic dinner for her ex-boyfriend. Meanwhile, Jack is visited by his estranged son, Kevin, who is now a successful lawyer. Kevin invites Jack to a father-son weekend retreat in the woods, but Jack is hesitant to go due to their rocky relationship. However, Kevin convinces Jack to come and the two bond over fishing and hiking. Finch also has a tough decision to make when he is given the opportunity to date a beautiful woman who is also his boss's daughter, but fears that it could jeopardize his job.
