Ep 5. Breaking and Entering

In season 1, episode 5 of Kindred Spirits, titled "Breaking and Entering," paranormal investigators Amy Bruni and Adam Berry travel to a house in Hinesburg, Vermont to help a family who believe their home is haunted by the ghosts of previous inhabitants.

Upon arriving, Amy and Adam meet with the homeowners, who recount stories of strange noises, objects moving on their own, and mysterious figures appearing in the house. The family is particularly troubled by an old mirror that they believe is a portal for spirits to enter their home.

The investigators begin their investigation by conducting an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) session in the master bedroom, where the family has reported experiencing the most intense paranormal activity. They ask questions and listen carefully for any responses from potential spirits.

After reviewing the recording, Amy and Adam hear what appears to be a male voice saying "Don't go," which they determine could be a plea from a deceased former resident not to leave the house unoccupied. The investigators continue their exploration of the home, using various tools such as thermal imaging cameras and EMF detectors to detect any paranormal activity.

As they investigate, the investigators begin to feel as though they are being watched and followed by an unseen presence. At one point, they hear footsteps upstairs and go to investigate, only to find no one there.

The investigation takes a surprising turn when the homeowners reveal that they allowed a psychic medium into their home prior to Amy and Adam's arrival. The medium allegedly made contact with a deceased former resident who told her that he had left behind a valuable artifact that he wanted the family to find and keep. The homeowners believe that this may be the reason for the increased paranormal activity in their home.

Amy and Adam decide to conduct a thorough search of the house to see if they can locate the missing artifact. During their search, they discover evidence of a hidden room that was likely used as a speakeasy during the prohibition era. The room has been sealed off and hidden from view for decades, and the investigators speculate that this may be the location of the missing artifact.

In the end, Amy and Adam leave the homeowners with some advice on how to live peacefully with the spirits in their home, including the recommendation to leave the mirror in place as it serves as a portal for communication with potential spirits. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, as the homeowners continue their search for the missing artifact in the hopes of resolving the paranormal activity in their home.
