Gyasi talks about her inspiration for the book, and how she approached writing about such a sensitive and painful topic. Meyers and Gyasi also discuss the themes of identity and belonging that run through the book, as well as Gyasi's own experiences growing up in America as the child of Ghanaian immigrants.
