Ep 2. Super Nova

In the second episode of Lexx season 1, titled "Super Nova," the main characters find themselves in a dire situation. The crew of the Lexx, a massive bio-engineered spaceship, includes the reluctant hero Stanley Tweedle, the love-crazed and insecure Zev Bellringer, the undead assassin Kai, and the ship's computer, 790. As they travel through space, they stumble upon a planet on the brink of destruction.

The planet, originally called Brunnis-2, is being threatened by a nearby star that is about to reach the end of its life. The inhabitants, a peaceful group of people known as the Brunnen-G, are unable to save their planet, so they plead with the Lexx crew for help. However, the Lexx's technology is unable to prevent the explosion of the star and thus the destruction of the planet.

Stanley, Zev, and Kai are left with a dilemma: do they let the innocent people of Brunnis-2 perish, or do they use the Lexx's powerful weapons to destroy the planet and its inhabitants quickly and painlessly? The crew debates the matter, but ultimately Stanley decides to pull the trigger on the Lexx's deadly weapon to prevent the people of Brunnis-2 from suffering.

The act of genocide shocks Zev and Kai, who plead with Stanley to spare a single survivor. Despite his initial resistance, Stanley relents and allows a single Brunnen-G, an attractive woman named Thodin, to join the crew. But Thodin quickly becomes a source of tension between Stanley and Zev, as both men are smitten with her.

Meanwhile, 790, the ship's computer, has fallen in love with Zev and becomes jealous of Thodin's arrival. He schemes to eliminate her, but ultimately fails.

This episode finds the crew of the Lexx grappling with big philosophical questions about the morality of killing to prevent suffering. It also begins to develop the romantic tensions that will shape the rest of the series. With its quirky humor and dark undertones, "Super Nova" sets the tone for the rest of the season.
