Laura Nielson, a teacher and single mother, embarks on a seemingly innocent date with Andrew Earlham, a successful surgeon and widowed father. The two have met before briefly but never had the chance to get to know each other. Laura is hesitant since she's not over her ex-boyfriend but still decides to go on the date.

The date seems to go well as they both enjoy each other's company and share stories about their lives. However, the following day, Laura wakes up with no memory of the previous night and with the evidence that she was sexually assaulted.
