Episode 2 of Liar's first season picks up where the previous episode left off, with Laura Nielson (played by Joanne Froggatt) and Andrew Earlham (played by Ioan Gruffudd) waking up together after a night of heavy drinking. Laura is clearly uncomfortable and tries to leave as soon as possible, while Andrew seems to be more relaxed about the situation.

As Laura goes about her day, she receives a call from her sister, Katy (played by Zoe Tapper), who is worried about her after finding out about the date with Andrew. Laura insists that nothing happened, but Katy remains unconvinced. Later on, Laura attends a therapy session where she discusses her complicated relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Tom, and her feelings of vulnerability after being raped a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Andrew is attending a school assembly where he is presented with an award for his volunteer work with the students. His son, Luke, is also at the assembly and seems to be having a difficult time fitting in with the other kids. Andrew tries to comfort him but is ultimately unsuccessful.

As the day continues, Laura receives a text message from Andrew inviting her to dinner. Despite her reservations, she agrees to go. During the dinner, Andrew appears to be charming and attentive, and Laura begins to let her guard down. However, things take a dark turn when Laura begins to feel disoriented and dizzy. She suspects that her drink has been spiked, and when Andrew takes her home, she becomes suspicious of him.

The next day, Laura confronts Andrew, accusing him of spiking her drink. Andrew denies the accusation, but Laura remains skeptical. She contacts a friend who is a forensic toxicologist, and after conducting some tests, they determine that there were traces of a date rape drug in Laura's system.

At this point, Laura decides to go to the police and report the incident. She meets with DI Vanessa Harmon (played by Shelley Conn) and provides her with the evidence she has gathered. However, Harmon seems to be skeptical of Laura's story, and suggests that she may have made a mistake.

The episode comes to a close with Laura feeling frustrated and alone. She realizes that no one seems to believe her, and she begins to question her own sanity. As the credits roll, the audience is left wondering whether Laura's suspicions are justified or if she has simply been the victim of a misunderstanding.
