In this episode of Life Below Zero, titled "Second Nature," viewers are taken into the wilds of Alaska to follow the lives of several individuals as they attempt to survive in one of the harshest environments on earth.
First up is Sue Aikens, who lives alone at Kavik River Camp, a remote outpost 197 miles north of the Arctic Circle. As she prepares for winter, she faces a major setback when her generator fails. With no backup, she's forced to scramble to find a temporary solution.
Meanwhile, in the Brooks Range, Jessie Holmes and his dogsled team are on a mission to track down a problem wolf that's been killing caribou. After several days of following its tracks, Jessie finally comes face to face with the elusive predator.
Over in Chandalar, Glenn Villeneuve is joined by his girlfriend, Natalie, as he sets out to hunt for moose. With winter fast approaching, they need to secure enough meat to last them through the long, cold months ahead. But as they traverse the rugged terrain, they soon realize that they're not alone in the wilderness.
In Noorvik, Chip Hailstone is also hunting for moose. But he's not alone, as his entire family takes part in the annual tradition that provides them with much-needed sustenance for the year. As they stalk their prey through the dense forest, they face a number of challenges and obstacles that test their skills and resolve.
Finally, in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Andy Bassich is forced to reckon with the harsh realities of living off the land. With his sled dogs by his side, he's determined to find enough food and resources to survive the brutal winter that lies ahead.
Throughout the episode, viewers are treated to stunning images of Alaska's breathtaking landscape, as well as intimate glimpses into the daily lives of these intrepid individuals who choose to call it home. From hunting and gathering to battling the elements and unexpected setbacks, "Second Nature" showcases the incredible resilience and resourcefulness of those who live their lives below zero.
