Set in the 19th century Ukraine, Love in Chains is a historical romantic drama television series that explores the forbidden love between two people from opposite social classes. Mykola, who comes from a disadvantaged background, struggles to make ends meet and dreams of a better life for himself and his family.

As the night goes on, tensions rise, and secrets are revealed. Oleksiy grows increasingly uncomfortable with the countess's advances, and he tries to leave, but she blocks his path and threatens to expose his true identity if he doesn't comply with her demands. Dariya, seeing Oleksiy's distress, confronts the countess and warns her to stay away from her husband.

Mykola, on the other hand, reveals his true feelings to Dariya, confessing that he has fallen in love with her at first sight. Dariya is taken aback but also flattered, and she admits that she feels a connection to him as well. The only problem is that they come from different worlds, and their love could never be accepted by society.

As the night draws to a close, Dariya and Oleksiy leave the ball, each lost in their own thoughts and emotions. Dariya is torn between her loyalty to her husband and her growing feelings for Mykola, while Oleksiy is struggling with his own guilt and shame for lying to Dariya. They both know that their lives will never be the same again, and that the consequences of their actions will be severe.
