Julie and Bernard are a couple who are at odds about their current home. Julie has grown attached to their 1930s character home but Bernard has had enough of its constant maintenance issues and outdated layout. They have enlisted the help of Love it or List it Vancouver to help them decide whether they should renovate and stay or sell and find a new home.

Designer Jillian Harris meets with the couple to discuss their wish list for their home renovation. Julie is looking for an open concept space with a modern feel that still maintains the character of their home. Jillian’s plan is to tear down the walls between the kitchen, dining room, and living room to create one cohesive space. She also wants to add a functional mudroom and a spa-like master bathroom to increase the value of their home.

Meanwhile, realtor Todd Talbot takes Julie and Bernard on a tour of three potential new homes in the area. The first home is a bright and spacious new build with all the modern amenities, but it lacks the character that Julie loves about their current home. The second home is a fixer-upper with a character-filled living room and a large backyard, but it has some serious structural issues that could pose a problem down the line. The third home is move-in ready with a large kitchen and living space, but it has a lackluster backyard that is not ideal for their two young children.

After weighing their options, Julie and Bernard make their decision and reveal it to Jillian and Todd. Will they choose to Love It and renovate their current home, or will they opt to List It and move into one of the potential new homes?
