Macross Frontier Season 1 Episode 1 Cross Encounter

In the year 2059, the Frontier fleet leaves Earth in search of a new home for humanity. As they travel through space, they come across a mysterious spacecraft. It turns out to be a massive object known as a Varauta ship, and it's loaded with strange, insectoid creatures.

The Varauta launch an attack on the Frontier fleet, and the humans are forced to fight back. Among them is pilot Alto Saotome, who initially tries to stay out of the conflict but is drawn in when he sees a fellow pilot in danger. He takes control of a new fighter jet, a VF-25, and begins dogfighting with the Varauta.

Meanwhile, pop idol Sheryl Nome is on her way to perform a concert on the Frontier fleet. She's rather arrogant and self-centered, but she quickly becomes involved in the conflict when the Varauta board her transport ship.

As the battle rages on, other characters are introduced, including headstrong pilot Luca Angelloni and the stoic SMS leader Ozma Lee. The episode ends with the Frontier fleet successfully fending off the Varauta attack, but it's clear that this is just the beginning of a much larger conflict.
