The show features a mix of action, sci-fi, and drama as the characters navigate the dangers of battling extraterrestrial forces. The series has a notable blend of traditional anime storytelling with high-quality animation, making it a standout in the genre.

The main character, Daichi Manatsu, is a young man who lost his father at a young age due to unknown circumstances. When he is chosen to pilot the Earth Engine Impacter, a giant robot that can defend the planet from alien threats, he must learn to control his new powers while also uncovering the secrets of his father's past.

Daichi is joined in his adventures by a group of other pilots who also possess the ability to control giant mechs. These characters include Teppei Arashi, who has a mysterious past and a strong bond with his mech, and Hana Mutou, a young girl who possesses special powers that allow her to communicate with the mechs.

Throughout the series, the pilots battle a number of alien threats that seek to destroy Earth. These include the Kiltgang, a group of advanced beings who seek to harvest the life energy of humans to fuel their own existence. The Kiltgang are led by a mysterious and powerful figure known as the Designer, who has a connection to Daichi's past.

As the pilots continue to battle against the Kiltgang, they also grow closer to each other and uncover a number of secrets about their own pasts. The show explores themes of love, friendship, and the power of humanity to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges.
