In this episode of Masterpiece, season 22 episode 7, we continue the story of The Secret Agent. Based on the classic novel by Joseph Conrad, the series stars Toby Jones as Verloc, a Soho shopkeeper who is recruited by the Russian Embassy to spy on an anarchist group in London.

In the previous episode, Verloc's double life as a spy was exposed after a bombing at the Greenwich Observatory resulted in the death of his wife, Winnie. Their leader, known only as The Professor, is determined to find out the truth and enlists the help of a new member, the seductive and mysterious Yundt, to get closer to Verloc and uncover his secrets.

As tensions escalate and the stakes become higher, Verloc must decide where his loyalties lie and how far he is willing to go to protect his own interests. The Secret Agent is a thrilling and thought-provoking drama that explores themes of betrayal, guilt, and the desire for power in a world fraught with danger.
