In the 6th episode of the 25th season of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood titled "Everybody's Special (1)", children are encouraged to celebrate the fact that they are unique and special individuals. He visits a friend's pottery studio where he talks about how every pot made by the artist is unique and special in its own way.

Mister Rogers welcomes a guest to the house, an adoptive mother, who shares with him about the joys and rewards of adopting. She explains how every child is special and unique, but sometimes they may not feel that way. Mister Rogers explains that everyone deserves to feel special and that we all have something unique about us to offer.

The episode also features a visit from a sign-language interpreter who teaches Mister Rogers and his young viewers some basic sign language. She talks about the different ways that people communicate and how important it is to be able to express ourselves and understand others.
