The Parker family lives in the North Carolina city of Charlotte in the 1990s. They are a typical middle class black family consisting of a mom, a dad and three siblings named Alfie, Dee Dee and Melanie. Alfie's best friend Goo is madly in love with Melanie and often goes to great lengths to tell her so, though his words often fall on deaf ears. Together, these folks go through the expected trials of everyday life, from job struggles to school frustrations. They often annoy each other, but in a pinch, they will always be there to support one another.

Dee Dee, Harry, and Donnell are watching TV, when Cool Dr. Money and the Money girls video comes on TV. They are all impressed by Cool Dr. Money's haircut and decide that they too want a "Cool Dr. Money" haircut.

January 8, 1995

This show is based around a series of practical jokes that kids play on each other. While the kids are playing jokes on each other, each time getting crazier, Jennifer has entered the family into the Queen City Magazine "family of the year" contest.

11. Sensitive Goo

During a game of basketball with Alfie, Goo gets hit on the head and blacks out for a moment. he begins to call everyone by their formal name including himself.

10. The Surprise

December 18, 1994

Alfie can't understand why Melanie and Goo are constantly hanging around together, especially since Melanie hates Goo. Alfie informs his parents about the situation, however, they already know that Melanie and Goo are dating.

9. Real Men Don't Wear Tights

December 11, 1994

The school drama department is about to perform the play "Robin Hood". Alfie finds out, not to his liking, that he has to wear tights in the play. He protests and quits but when he finds out that the play will be on cable TV he changes his mind.

8. Hit the Open Man

December 4, 1994

Try-outs for the upcoming basketball season are about to take place for the juniors and seniors. Alfie and Goo try out for the seniors. Dee Dee, Harry, and Donnell try out for the junior team.

7. The Candy Sale

November 20, 1994

Alfie and Goo want to buy new jackets. Goo's uncle agrees to front them candy bars to sell. They plan to buy their jackets with the profits.

6. The Bully

November 13, 1994

Dee Dee gets beat up at school by a fourth grader named Big Lou. Dee Dee asks Alfie to teach him how to fight, but when that seems hopeless, Goo teaches him how to bluff.

5. Nobody's Baby

October 16, 1994

Dee Dee finds himself in several situations with his family that leave him feeling unwanted.

4. The Quest for Kendall's Autograph

December 31, 1994

Goo catches up with Alfie and Dee Dee at the bazaar to inform them that NBA star KENDALL GILL (Seattle Supersonics) is signing autographs at the comic book store.

3. A Stranger Among Us

November 6, 1994

Alfie and Dee Dee make a trade for Goo's pet ball python snake and, at the same time, Melanie and Deonne bring home the class mascot, a rabbit.

October 30, 1994

Donnell announces that he is going to have a "cool" birthday party with dancing and all. Dee Dee and Harry admit they can't dance and they take lessons from Alfie.

Dee Dee is assigned to work on a science project with Janaya, a girl in his science class. One day on the school grounds, Janaya walks up to Dee Dee and gives him a kiss. Harry and Donnell witness the kiss and begin to tease him.
