Ep 5. The Sheds / Shiny Thing

In My Gym Partner's a Monkey season 1 episode 5, titled "The Sheds / Shiny Thing," Adam Lyon, a human, is still struggling to adapt to the fact that his best friend in school is a monkey named Jake Spidermonkey who also happens to be his gym partner. In the second segment, "Shiny Thing," Jake finds a mysterious shiny rock in the school cafeteria and becomes obsessed with it. He can't stop staring at it, and his behavior becomes increasingly erratic. Adam and his other friends try to figure out what's wrong with Jake, but he just keeps talking about how amazing the rock is and how it's going to change his life. Eventually, they realize that the rock is actually a piece of aluminum foil, and they help Jake understand that it's not as valuable as he thought.

These two segments of the episode explore different themes related to envy and materialism. In the first segment, the other students are envious of Jamie's skills but don't realize the hard work and training that went into her performance.
