Michael Kyle is a loving husband and father of three. He is also a successful businessman who runs the family-owned Kyle Trucking company. In the final episode of season 3, titled "Not So Hostile Takeover," Michael faces a big challenge when his longtime business partner, Jimmy (played by actor Paul Reiser), decides to retire and sell his shares in the company to a rival company, WJM. This puts the future of Kyle Trucking at risk and Michael must find a way to buy back Jimmy's shares to prevent a takeover.

The episode begins with Michael and Jimmy enjoying a round of golf, where Jimmy drops the bombshell news that he is retiring and selling his shares in the company. Michael is taken by surprise and is immediately worried about the future of Kyle Trucking. Jimmy tells Michael that he has already accepted an offer from WJM, a company known for taking over struggling businesses. Michael tries to persuade Jimmy not to sell and to instead give him a chance to buy back the shares, to which Jimmy agrees.

Michael quickly sets up a meeting with WJM's head, Mr. Flavors (played by actor Fred Willard), to convince him not to take over Kyle Trucking. At the meeting, Michael presents a proposal to buy back Jimmy's shares, but Mr. Flavors is not interested and tells Michael that WJM is already in the process of taking over the company. Michael is devastated and feels like he has failed his family.

Meanwhile, Claire, Michael's teenage daughter, is dealing with her own problems. She is preparing for the prom with her boyfriend, Tony (played by actor Andrew McFarlane), but is worried about Tony's ex-girlfriend, Marisa (played by actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher), who seems to be causing trouble. Tony assures Claire that he is over Marisa and that she has nothing to worry about.

Back at the office, Michael comes up with a plan to save Kyle Trucking. He realizes that he can leverage his own shares in the company to get a loan and buy back Jimmy's shares. He enlists the help of his wife, Janet (played by actress Tisha Campbell-Martin), to handle the paperwork for the loan. Janet is initially hesitant, but eventually agrees to help Michael save their family business.

At the prom, Claire is having a great time with Tony until Marisa shows up and causes a scene. Tony tries to calm Marisa down, but she ends up throwing a punch at him. Claire is upset and decides to leave the prom early. She calls her parents for a ride, but they are busy trying to finalize the loan for Kyle Trucking.

Eventually, Michael is able to secure the loan and buy back Jimmy's shares. He saves his family business and is able to keep WJM from taking over. Michael and Janet celebrate their victory with a dance in the office. Claire comes home from the prom and tells her parents about what happened with Marisa. Michael and Janet comfort Claire and remind her that she is a strong and independent young woman who can handle anything life throws at her.

The episode ends with the Kyle family gathered around the dinner table, enjoying a meal together and celebrating their success. Michael gives a heartfelt speech about how his family is what matters most to him and that they will always stick together, no matter what challenges they face in the future.

"Not So Hostile Takeover" is a heartwarming and uplifting episode of My Wife and Kids. It showcases the importance of family, hard work, and determination in the face of adversity. Michael Kyle proves that with a little creativity and support from loved ones, anything is possible.
