Overall, the episode is action-packed and exciting, with a lot of emphasis on the pressure of stopping a terrorist organization from detonating a nuclear weapon. There is also a lot of character development and backstory, particularly with the character of G. Callen, who is still struggling to piece together his own identity while trying to save the world from a major threat.

In addition to the strong plot and excellent character development, the first episode of NCIS: Los Angeles sets the tone for the entire series, with high-stakes investigations, thrilling action, and a focus on teamwork and trust between the agents.
