As the team starts investigating the outbreak during the course of the episode, Nell stays back with Eric to run tests with the little information they have available. But soon the conditions get worse and multiple people end up dying as the virus continues to spread across the city. Meanwhile, the NCIS team finds that the virus was smuggled in and their only lead is a few peculiar phone calls made by the ship's owner, around the time of the sail.
In the meantime, Callen along with Agent Konner joins ATF Agent Paul Angelo to track down an illegal weapons dealer, who they suspect is somehow involved in smuggling the virus illegally into the city. The storyline of the episode then moves forward with the team leveraging their resources to find the origin of the virus before it is too late.
