Ep 3. Every Last Minute

In New Amsterdam season 1 episode 3, titled Every Last Minute, the emergency department is understaffed due to a strike that has taken place. Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) must step in and ensure that the hospital remains fully operational despite the strike. The doctors who are not striking are overworked and exhausted, leading to more mistakes and errors than usual. Max does his best to keep morale high and ensure that everyone is doing their best despite the difficult circumstances.

Meanwhile, Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) is struggling to help a young girl who has been hospitalised due to apparent abuse, but the girl is unresponsive and refuses to open up to him. Together with Max, they race against the clock to uncover the source of her injuries and help her recover from the abuse she has suffered.

Elsewhere, Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) feels conflicted about his deteriorating relationship with Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) while they attend a conference where a lot is at stake for the hospital. The two decide to work together and focus solely on the well-being of the hospital, setting their personal problems aside for the time being.

Back at the hospital, Dr. Vijay Kapoor (Anupam Kher) handles and oversees the care of an elderly man who suffers a brain injury, and who is in a race against the clock to receive the treatment he needs in order to recover. Kapoor has to remain calm and calculated while rushing to find all of the information he needs to make sure that the patient receives the correct treatment.

As the episode progresses, the pressure on the doctors, nurses, and staff of New Amsterdam only increases. In the face of an impending strike, the medical professionals put their own problems aside and band together to ensure that all of their patients receive the care they deserve, even if it means sacrificing their own well-being in the process.

Throughout Every Last Minute, we see Max Goodwin continuously pushing himself and others to do better and to never give up hope. Despite the numerous obstacles they face, the team at New Amsterdam remain dedicated and committed to their patients, showing us that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope and light to be found. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving us eagerly anticipating the next instalment of this gripping medical drama.
