When Jess discovers that she and her roommates are being kicked out of their apartment by their unscrupulous landlord, she becomes determined to prove herself to him and convince him to let them stay. In order to do so, she disguises herself as a man and attempts to befriend the landlord, only to find out that he is a bit of a creep. Meanwhile, Nick tries to come to terms with his feelings for Caroline, his ex-girlfriend who left him for his best friend, and Winston struggles to find a new job after being fired from his previous one.
