Ep 22. Tomatoes

In New Girl season 1 episode 22, titled Tomatoes, the roommates are preparing for the upcoming wedding of Cece, Jess's best friend. Jess is excited to be the maid of honor, but things start to unravel when she discovers that her ex-boyfriend, Spencer, is going to be at the wedding.

To make matters worse, the guys decide to grow tomatoes on their balcony, which ends up becoming a source of tension between the roommates. Schmidt is obsessed with his crop and becomes frustrated when Winston accidentally knocks over the plants. Nick, on the other hand, is apathetic towards the tomatoes and feels left out of Schmidt's obsessive behavior.

Meanwhile, Cece is having second thoughts about getting married to Shivrang, who is a nice guy but not her usual type. Jess realizes that she needs to help her friend and encourages Cece to follow her heart and not settle for someone she doesn't truly love. However, this leads to a heated argument between the two as Jess tries to convince Cece to call off the wedding.

As the wedding approaches, Spencer shows up and Jess becomes even more flustered. She tries to avoid him, but he continues to make advances towards her, causing Jess to question whether she has truly moved on from him. The tension between Jess and Spencer comes to a head when they get into a physical altercation at the wedding.

Despite the drama surrounding the tomato crop and the romantic entanglements of the roommates, Cece finally realizes that she cannot go through with the wedding. She and Shivrang break up, and although it's a difficult decision, it's one that ultimately makes her happy.

In the end, the roommates come together to celebrate Cece's new chapter in life and to reconcile their differences over the tomato crop. Jess realizes that she can finally move on from her past relationship with Spencer and opens herself up to new possibilities. The episode ends with the roommates enjoying each other's company, with Jess learning to live in the moment and enjoy the present.
