Jeff Corwin is back with another exciting episode of Ocean Treks, and this time he's exploring the Dominican Republic. This Caribbean nation is home to a stunning variety of marine life, and Jeff is eager to discover some of its hidden treasures.

Jeff begins his journey in Samana, a stunning coastal town famed for its whale-watching opportunities. He heads out on a boat with a local guide to see if he can spot any of these magnificent mammals up close. Fortunately, he's in luck and he gets an incredible view of a mother humpback whale and her calf.

Next, Jeff heads inland to explore the lush tropical forests that blanket much of the Dominican Republic. He meets up with a local conservationist who shows him some of the fascinating wildlife that lives in this environment. Jeff gets to see a variety of birds, reptiles, and mammals, including the endangered Hispaniolan solenodon, which is found only on this island.

After his adventure in the forest, Jeff heads back to the coast to explore some of the Dominican Republic's stunning coral reefs. He meets up with a diving instructor who takes him to some of the best spots for snorkeling and diving. Jeff is amazed by the diversity of marine life that he sees, including colorful fish, crustaceans, and various species of coral.

One of the highlights of Jeff's visit to the Dominican Republic is his visit to a local fishing village. Here he meets some of the people who make their living by fishing the waters around the island. He learns about the traditional methods they use and the challenges they face in an ever-changing world. Jeff even gets to try his hand at fishing and manages to catch a tasty snapper.

No trip to the Dominican Republic would be complete without a visit to its capital city, Santo Domingo. Jeff explores the historic district of the city, which is home to some of the oldest buildings in the Americas. He visits the Alcazar de Colon, a palace built by Christopher Columbus's son Diego, and the first Cathedral in the Americas.

Finally, Jeff heads to the beautiful Saona Island, a national park made up of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. Here he gets to see some of the unique animal and plant life that thrives in this protected environment. He also learns about the efforts being made to protect this special place for generations to come.

With stunning scenery, incredible wildlife, and fascinating people, Jeff's adventure in the Dominican Republic is not to be missed. Join him on his journey to discover some of the country's hidden treasures in this exciting episode of Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin.
