Ep 2. The Interview

In the second episode of Peep Show season 1, titled "The Interview," Mark and Jeremy continue to struggle with their respective careers. Mark is informed by his boss that he must hire a new employee, but quickly becomes overwhelmed by the process. Meanwhile, Jeremy decides to pursue his dream of becoming a musician and auditions for a band.

Mark's attempts to find a suitable candidate for the job prove to be unsuccessful, as he struggles to connect with the applicants and ends up resorting to some questionable tactics. This leads to a hilarious and cringe-worthy interview with a potential candidate named Sophie, who Mark becomes infatuated with.

Meanwhile, Jeremy's audition doesn't go as planned when he's forced to perform alongside a group of teenage girls. Despite his lackluster performance, he's offered a spot in the band. However, the reality of the situation quickly sets in when he realizes that the band is made up of middle-aged men who are playing a genre of music he despises.

Throughout the episode, both Mark and Jeremy grapple with their own feelings of inadequacy and frustration. Mark is forced to confront his fear of being in charge and admits that he's not cut out for management, while Jeremy realizes that his musical aspirations may not be as fulfilling as he originally thought.

As always, the episode is filled with the trademark awkwardness and dark humor that Peep Show is known for. From Mark's cringey attempts to impress Sophie to Jeremy's misguided attempts at starting a music career, "The Interview" is a hilarious commentary on the uncertain nature of work and identity.
