In the fourth episode of season one of Penn and Teller Bullshit, titled "End of the World," the famous magic duo tackles the fearmongering tactics of "doomsday prophets" who predict the end of the world. Using their signature blend of humor, skepticism, and investigative journalism, Penn and Teller delve into the various end-of-the-world prophecies that have plagued humanity for centuries.

The episode begins with an interview with self-proclaimed doomsday prophet Elizabeth Clare Prophet, who founded the Church Universal and Triumphant and claimed that the world would end in 1990. Penn and Teller question Prophet's motivations and point out the flaws in her logic, including her reliance on alleged prophecies from a 16th-century French seer named Nostradamus.

From there, Penn and Teller explore the various other ways in which people have predicted the end of the world, ranging from religious beliefs to scientific theories. They visit a group of survivalists who believe that the world will soon be ravaged by a catastrophic event, and who are preparing for the worst by stockpiling food, weapons, and other supplies.

Penn and Teller also interview scientists who study asteroids, and learn about the real threat of an asteroid impact that could potentially wipe out all life on Earth. They explain the scientific research behind how asteroids are discovered and tracked, and how scientists are working to prevent an impact from happening.

Throughout the episode, Penn and Teller challenge the fear-based tactics used by doomsday prophets to manipulate people into believing their predictions. They argue that these prophets prey on people's innate fear of the unknown and the uncontrollable, and that their predictions are often based on faulty reasoning or unverifiable claims.

As with all episodes of Penn and Teller Bullshit, the humor and sarcasm are front and center in "End of the World." Penn and Teller mock the idea of a biblical apocalypse, as well as other predictions such as the "Y2K bug" and the 2012 Mayan calendar prophecy. Their irreverence and skepticism are aimed not only at the specific prophecies they are debunking, but at the larger culture of fear that surrounds them.

Ultimately, "End of the World" is a humorous and insightful examination of the ways in which people attempt to predict and prepare for the end of the world. Penn and Teller's blend of skepticism and humor is both entertaining and informative, and it offers a refreshing antidote to the fear-mongering that often dominates discussions of the apocalypse.
