As Hooterville Goes is the fifth episode of the second season of the classic television show Petticoat Junction. The episode originally aired on October 13, 1964, and was directed by Guy Scarpitta.

The episode centers around the annual Hooterville Founders' Day celebration, which the local citizens are excitedly preparing for. Kate Bradley, the owner of the Shady Rest Hotel, is spearheading the festivities and is determined to make this year's event the best one yet.

As the day of the celebration approaches, the citizens of Hooterville are abuzz with excitement. Even Eb Dawson, the hapless assistant to Kate's Uncle Joe, is pitching in to help. Uncle Joe himself is busy promoting the festivities, but he's also scheming to make a little extra money on the side.

The festivities themselves are a mishmash of traditional and offbeat events, including a potato-sack race, a beauty contest, and a parade featuring homemade floats. But when a torrential rainstorm hits Hooterville just as the festivities are getting underway, things start to go awry.

The citizens of Hooterville refuse to let a little rain dampen their spirits, however. They make the best of the situation and improvise by holding the festivities indoors. But even then, things continue to spiral out of control. The beauty contest turns into a mud-wrestling match, and the parade floats start falling apart.

In the midst of the chaos, Kate and her daughters Betty Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Billie Jo work tirelessly to salvage the event. They enlist the help of the visiting Matteson family, who just happen to be talented musicians, to provide some entertainment for the crowds. Meanwhile, Uncle Joe continues his scheming, trying to sell raincoats to the visitors who didn't come prepared for the storm.

Despite the setbacks, the citizens of Hooterville manage to salvage the event and have a good time. As the day draws to a close, Kate reflects on the importance of tradition and community spirit. She realizes that even though things didn't go as planned, the citizens of Hooterville came together to make the best of a bad situation.

As Hooterville Goes is a classic episode of Petticoat Junction that showcases the show's charming mix of lighthearted humor and wholesome values. It's a testament to the resilience and creativity of small-town communities, and a reminder that even the most chaotic events can bring people together.
