Plankton Invasion is a French animated science-fiction television series that premiered on Canal+ in 2011. The show is directed by Fabien-Olivier Franc and produced by Cyber Group Studios. It is an action-packed adventure story for kids that combines elements of science-fiction, action, and comedy.

The series is set in the 22nd century and focuses on a young boy named Zac, who is a member of the Ocean Patrol. Zac's duty is to protect the world's oceans from various threats that may come its way, including natural and manmade disasters. However, Zac's world is turned upside down when he discovers that an evil villain named X-5 is plotting to take over the world's oceans using a swarm of genetically engineered plankton.

To stop X-5 from achieving his evil plan, Zac must embark on a mission to uncover his true intentions and stop him in his tracks. Along the way, Zac is accompanied by a team of highly skilled individuals, including his best friend, a sassy computer called I.A., a former oceanographer named Dr. Carbonne, and a smart, young scientist named Laura. Meanwhile, X-5's motley crew of henchmen and minions will stop at nothing to thwart Zac's efforts and ensure that their boss's plan comes to fruition.

The plots of Plankton Invasion episodes tend to be self-contained stories with a mission or problem that needs to be solved. Despite this, there is an overarching storyline of Zac's efforts to stop X-5. The episodes are filled with lots of action, humor, and science but maintain a kid-friendly atmosphere with no overly graphic or mature content.

One of the key strengths of the show is its well-rounded and diverse cast of characters. Zac is a likable protagonist, who is driven to do what's right and protect the ocean. He does have his flaws, but these flaws make him relatable to the young audience. I.A., Zac's computerized sidekick, is the comic relief of the show and often provides some of the show's funniest moments. Dr. Carbonne and Laura are essential members of Zac's team, providing scientific insights and explanations of the latest gadgetry.

Another fascinating aspect of the show is its depiction of futuristic technology, which is presented in a way that sparks imagination. Zac's gadgets, such as his hovercraft, submersible car, and algae-powered jet ski, are all brilliantly designed and add to the show's science-fiction feel. The villains' equipment is equally imaginative and adds to the show's overall aesthetic.

The art style of the show is colorful and eye-catching. The animation is fluid and has a 3-D quality to it, which makes it visually engaging. The character designs are distinct and capture the personalities of the characters well. The architecture of the futuristic world is also a visual treat, with towering skyscrapers and underwater cities that give the show a unique and exciting feel.

Overall, Plankton Invasion is a fun, action-packed animated series that will appeal to kids who love science-fiction, action, and adventure. It is an innovative and visually stunning show that features a well-rounded cast of characters, exciting storylines, and lots of humor and science. The show's themes of environmentalism, stewardship, and teamwork, make it a perfect fit for kids. The series is available on DVD and streaming platforms, making it easy for families to enjoy together.
