Ep 3. Bobby Mackey's Music World

In season 1 episode 3 of Portals to Hell, paranormal investigators Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman visit Bobby Mackey's Music World, a honky-tonk bar in Wilder, Kentucky that is rumored to be one of the most haunted places in America. The investigation is particularly personal for Katrina, as it was her first time investigating with Jack and the first time she experienced a paranormal encounter.

Bobby Mackey's Music World has a dark history, and the investigation reveals a number of potential reasons for why the bar is so haunted. The building was originally a slaughterhouse, before being turned into a speakeasy during Prohibition. In the 1950s, it became a nightclub known as the Latin Quarter, and then in the 1970s, it was bought by country singer Bobby Mackey and turned into the honky-tonk bar and concert venue that it is today.

The investigation starts with Jack and Katrina meeting with Bobby Mackey himself and talking about his experiences with the paranormal in the bar. Bobby tells them about the legend of Pearl Bryan, a young woman who was murdered and decapitated near the building in the late 1800s and whose head was never found. Some say that her body was buried on the site of the slaughterhouse, and that her restless spirit is still trying to communicate with the living.

The investigation begins in earnest as Jack and Katrina explore the various hotspots in the bar. They start in the basement, where the slaughterhouse used to be. The atmosphere is tense and oppressive, and as Jack and Katrina set up their equipment, they hear strange noises and sense a presence in the room with them. The investigation takes a startling turn when they discover a secret room hidden behind a brick wall, and they realize that they are not alone in the basement.

As they move through the building, Jack and Katrina find themselves in the main performance area, where Bobby Mackey and his band are rehearsing for an upcoming show. The energy in the room is electric, and Jack and Katrina feel that they may be getting closer to the source of the haunting. They use a variety of paranormal investigation tools, including EVP (electronic voice phenomena) recorders and thermal imaging cameras, to try to capture evidence of any supernatural activity.

The team also interviews staff members and patrons at Bobby Mackey's Music World, many of whom share their own experiences with paranormal activity in the building. One employee recounts hearing strange noises in the men's bathroom, while a customer describes feeling a cold hand on her shoulder in the basement. These accounts all seem to confirm the belief that Bobby Mackey's Music World is a portal to the afterlife, and that ghosts and spirits are constantly passing through.

As the investigation comes to a close, Jack and Katrina analyze all of the evidence that they have gathered and try to make sense of what they have experienced. They believe that they have uncovered strong evidence of paranormal activity, and that the spirits at Bobby Mackey's Music World may be trying to communicate with the living in some way. The episode ends with Jack and Katrina leaving the building, but the haunting atmosphere of the honky-tonk bar lingers on.
