As the third season of Portals to Hell comes to a close, the team heads to San Antonio, Texas to investigate the notoriously haunted Victoria's Black Swan Inn. Built in the mid-19th century, the inn has a long and complex history, including a stint as a makeshift hospital during the Civil War. From there, it served as a brothel, a speakeasy, and even a private residence before it was eventually turned into a bed and breakfast.
However, despite its charming exterior, Victoria's Black Swan Inn has a dark reputation. Over the years, guests have reported experiencing a wide range of paranormal activity, including disembodied voices, mysterious shadows, and even physical contact from unseen entities. Some have even claimed to see full-bodied apparitions of former residents and guests.
The team arrives at the inn as night falls, ready to begin their investigation. They start by exploring the main building, which contains several guest rooms, a dining room, and a common area. As they set up their equipment, they begin to sense a palpable energy in the air - and they're not the only ones. The inn's owner, a woman named Erin, tells them that she often feels like she's being watched, and that she's heard voices and footsteps when no one else was around. She's hopeful that the team will be able to shed some light on what's been happening at the inn.
The investigation gets off to a slow start, with only a few minor anomalies showing up on the team's equipment. However, as the night progresses, things start to get more intense. In one of the guest rooms, they capture an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) of a male voice saying "get out", followed by what sounds like faint laughter. Later, in the basement, they hear what they describe as "chanting" coming from one of the empty rooms. They also use a flashlight as a communication tool, asking the spirits to turn it on and off to answer their questions - and, much to their surprise, it seems to be working.
As they continue their investigation, the team begins to piece together some of the history of the inn. They learn about a woman named Rose, who died of a mysterious illness in one of the upstairs rooms. They also uncover evidence of a man who committed suicide in the basement of the inn, and who may still be lingering there. And, perhaps most disturbingly, they discover that the property was once used as a burial ground for slaves, who were buried in unmarked graves on the grounds.
But even as they uncover more information about the inn's dark past, the team remains focused on their goal of helping Erin understand what's been happening at Victoria's Black Swan Inn. They conduct several experiments in an attempt to communicate with the spirits, including using a "ghost box" to try to capture EVPs in real time. They also use a thermal camera to capture any unexpected changes in temperature, and employ a trigger object - in this case, a doll - to see if any spirits will interact with it.
In the end, the team leaves Victoria's Black Swan Inn with a wealth of evidence and a newfound appreciation for the complex and often frightening world of the paranormal. Their investigation of this notorious haunted location leaves them with more questions than answers, but they're determined to keep seeking the truth about the afterlife - even if it means stepping into the unknown once again.
