Ep 5. South Will Rise Again

In episode 5 of Preacher season 1, titled "South Will Rise Again," Jesse is determined to find a way to save his congregation from their sins. He begins to preach at a church service but soon realizes that he needs to take a different approach to reach his audience. Meanwhile, Tulip and Cassidy conspire to rob a drug lord, Carlos, in order to get revenge for an old friend.

As Jesse continues to search for answers, he receives a visit from Donnie, a member of his congregation who is angry and seeking revenge. Donnie confronts Jesse and a violent altercation ensues. Jesse uses his powers to control Donnie and make him see the error of his ways.

Tulip and Cassidy put their plan into motion and successfully rob Carlos. However, their actions have consequences as they are subsequently targeted by Carlos and his men. They turn to Jesse for help, and he agrees to protect them in exchange for their help with his mission.

Jesse and Tulip travel to a nearby town to investigate a possible lead on his quest. They discover a group of people who believe that the Civil War is still being fought, and that the South will rise again. Jesse realizes that these people may hold the key to his search for answers.

Back in Annville, Cassidy enlists the help of Emily, a member of Jesse's congregation, to keep Carlos and his men at bay. Emily shows a surprising amount of resourcefulness and proves to be a valuable asset to the group.

As the episode comes to a close, tensions rise as Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy race to uncover the truth and keep themselves and their loved ones safe. The search for answers takes them to dark and dangerous places, and it becomes clear that nothing is off limits in their quest for redemption.
