Ready Jet Go! Season 1 Episode 28 What Goes Up....

  • March 21, 2016

In episode 28 of Ready Jet Go! titled "What Goes Up…," the gang is excited to participate in the annual Boxwood Terrace Music Festival. As they prepare for their performance, they learn about the principles of gravity and how it affects their instruments.

Jet and his friends are all set to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" at the festival. However, they begin to notice that their instruments sound different at high altitude. Jet is curious and decides to ask his mom, who is an astronomer, about the science behind the change in sound.

Dr. Rafferty explains to the kids that sound waves travel differently in different mediums. Gravity affects the air around the Earth, making it denser and harder for sound waves to travel through. At high altitudes, there is less air to carry sound waves, which is why the instruments sound different.

Jet and his friends decide to conduct an experiment to test this out. They take their instruments up in a hot air balloon to see how they sound in the thinner air. They notice that the pitch of the sound is higher and that the sound doesn't carry as far.

Just as they are about to get back to Earth, they encounter some turbulence, and their instruments fall out of the basket. The gang races to save their instruments before they hit the ground.

In the end, they are able to retrieve their instruments, but they are all broken. The kids are disappointed that they can't perform at the festival, but Jet comes up with a solution. They go back to Boxwood Terrace and play with the broken instruments anyway. It's not perfect, but they have fun improvising and making new music.

"What Goes Up…" teaches children about the principles of gravity and how it affects sound waves. The episode also promotes problem-solving skills and the importance of perseverance when faced with challenges. Children will enjoy watching the gang navigate their way through the experiment to discover why their instruments sound different, and the positive message at the end will inspire them to keep going even when things don't go as planned.
