Jet, Sydney, Sean, and Mindy go to the ISS with SUNNY, the Sunspotter, in order to help the astronauts with a few tasks. The crew is building a new module onto the ISS, but they are having trouble figuring out how to connect it to the station. After they take in the wonders of the amazing space station, they explore the new module that the astronauts are building, and admire how everything works to keep the crew safe.

During the exploration of the new module, the crew happens upon a tree sapling, which surprises everyone since there are no trees growing in space. The crew decides to plant the sapling in a small patch of soil that they brought with them. They also build a treehouse around the sapling using materials they find in the new module. The astronauts are stunned when they see the tree and treehouse.

After planting the sapling, Jet, Sydney, Sean, and Mindy realize that they have to figure out how to maintain the tree so it will grow successfully. With the help of the astronauts, they experiment with various ways to thrive plants in space by controlling temperature, light, water, and gravity conditions. As they go through these experiments, they discover that the treehouse they built around the sapling is the perfect environment to create a “personal garden” in space.

The crew comes up with an idea to create a contest in which children all around the world create their own treehouses and personal gardens, naming them after various space objects. The winner would get to have their treehouse put into use on the ISS for the astronauts to enjoy during their long missions. After the contest is initiated through SUNNY, children from all over the world submit their unique and creative designs for treehouses bearing names inspired by space objects such as the asteroid belt and the Orion constellation.

With the help of the astronauts, the crew judges and selects the winning treehouse, which will be constructed and used on the ISS. The episodes ends with the new tree growing, completing the personal garden, and the astronauts in space enjoying the new addition to the station while the personal garden contest winner is announced.
