- May 16, 2017
In the third episode of the second season of River Monsters: How to Catch a River Monster, host Jeremy Wade travels to the tropical paradise of Costa Rica to investigate reports of a deadly freshwater predator lurking in the depths of the country's rivers and streams. Known as the "guaico," this mysterious monster is said to be responsible for a string of unexplained disappearances and attacks on fishermen and swimmers.
Jeremy teams up with local guide Johnny Villalobos to search for the guaico, but quickly discovers that the creature's elusiveness and stealth make it a difficult opponent to track and catch. Their first attempt to catch the guaico using a traditional fishing lure is unsuccessful, and Jeremy realizes he'll need to get creative if he wants to make progress.
With the help of some local experts, Jeremy develops a new strategy for catching the guaico using a type of artificial bait made from a unique mix of natural ingredients. The plan is risky, but Jeremy is willing to take the chance in order to finally confront this legendary monster.
As they continue their search, Jeremy and Johnny get closer and closer to the guaico's lair, navigating treacherous currents and dodging dangerous wildlife along the way. Eventually, they locate the creature's hiding spot and set their trap, waiting for the guaico to take the bait.
But when the guaico finally appears, things take a dangerous turn. The powerful predator proves to be more than a match for Jeremy and Johnny, and they find themselves in a life-or-death struggle to subdue the vicious beast.
As the battle rages on, Jeremy's expertise and quick thinking are put to the test, and he must use all his skills to outmaneuver and defeat the guaico before it's too late. In the end, the outcome of this epic showdown will shock viewers and leave them questioning whether any river monster can truly be tamed.
