Robson Arms Season 2 Episode 2 Saultology

  • February 17, 2007

The second episode of the second season of Robson Arms, titled "Saultology," follows the residents of the fictional Vancouver apartment building as they navigate the challenges and absurdities of daily life. As with previous episodes, the show employs a blend of comedy and drama to explore themes such as relationships, identity, and the struggle to find meaning and happiness.

The episode opens with William (Tobias Mehler), a struggling artist who lives in the building with his wife and son, receiving a mysterious package in the mail. Intrigued, he opens it to find a book titled "Saultology," which claims to offer a foolproof guide to achieving happiness and success. William is skeptical at first, but as he begins to read the book, he finds himself becoming increasingly intrigued by its teachings.

Meanwhile, other residents of the building are dealing with their own issues. Cindy (Jane McGregor), a young actress, is struggling to land the perfect audition and is growing increasingly frustrated with her agent, while Yuri (Mark McKinney), the building manager, is dealing with a series of bizarre complaints from tenants, including a man who claims that his apartment is haunted by a ghost.

As the episode progresses, William becomes increasingly obsessed with the teachings of "Saultology," much to the bemusement of his wife and friends. He begins to implement the book's principles in his own life, making drastic changes such as quitting his job and selling all of his possessions. Meanwhile, Cindy continues to struggle with her acting career, and Tippi (Gabrielle Miller), an aspiring writer, is dealing with writer's block and a lack of inspiration.

Eventually, the various storylines converge as the residents of Robson Arms attend a party being thrown by a new tenant, a wealthy businessman named Mr. Wu (Francois Chau). At the party, William has a breakthrough when he realizes that the principles of "Saultology" are not the key to happiness after all, but rather a distraction from the real work of finding meaning and purpose in life. Cindy also has a breakthrough when she realizes that she doesn't need the validation of others to feel fulfilled, and Tippi is inspired to start writing again after talking to a successful author at the party.

As the episode comes to a close, the residents of Robson Arms are left to confront the ups and downs of their lives with renewed determination and resilience. Despite the challenges they face, they are fortified by the knowledge that they are not alone, and that they can count on each other for support and encouragement. With its inventive storytelling and relatable characters, "Saultology" is a standout episode that showcases the best of what Robson Arms has to offer.
