Royal Family, is a South Korean romantic family series, which looks at the shadier side of wealth, and the love between people who support one another within Koreas social elite. Staring Ji Sung as Han Ji-Hoon, and Yum Jung-Ah as Kim In-Sook, both characters launch a battle to bring In-Sook out from behind the oppressive shadow of her in-laws. The distrust spread throughout the family she is a part of makes her conflict a difficult one, but only strengthens Ji-Hoons resolve to help his long time friend. The series was written by Kim Yeong-hyeon, Kwon Eun-mi, and Park Sang-yeon. Royal Family was also produced by Han Hee and aired on MBC. It was originally broadcast on March of 2011 and ran through April of the same year with 18 episodes in total, each episode running 21:55 minutes. Alongside Yeom Jung-Ah and Ji Sung, starred an extensive cast including, Kim Yeong-Ae as Kong Soon-Ho, and Uhm Ki-do who plays Jeon No-Min. The plot involves a complicated relationship between the widow, Kim In-Sook and her in-laws who believe that she is only after their money. Following the death of her husband, In-Sook is relegated as incompetent by her mother-in-law, Kong Soon-Ho, and attempts to take custody of In-Sooks' son. Soon-Hos ultimate intent in doing so, would lead to In-Sooks banishment from the JK family. Ji-Hoon, now a powerful prosecutor thanks to In-Sook, feels both compassion and heartache over the circumstances she is in and decides to help her become head of the family. Eventually Ji-Hoon is able to help In-Sook become the head of the JK company. Along the way Ji-Hoon investigates a separate homicide that may be linked, in some way, to In-Sook.
