Ep 6. Larry David / Miley Cyrus

Larry David, the creator and star of the hit TV show "Curb Your Enthusiasm," took the reins as host of Saturday Night Live's 43rd season for episode 6. Known for his comedic prowess and no-holds-barred humor, David did not disappoint. And to kick things up a notch, Miley Cyrus served as the musical guest.

The episode began with a cold open that captured the week's political news, as SNL frequently does. They tackled Roy Moore's alleged sexual misconduct with underage girls and reminded SNL viewers of the allegations against President Trump. The sketch, which featured Beck Bennett playing CNN's Anderson Cooper and Kate McKinnon playing Kellyanne Conway, was the start of a political-heavy night.

David's opening monologue featured a hilarious bit about Holocaust jokes, and the comedian did not shy away from controversial material throughout the night. One standout sketch featured David as a concentration camp prisoner refusing to get his identification tattooed. He haggled with the Nazi officer, attempting to persuade him to instead write "Jew" on a Post-it note.

Other sketches in this episode included a spoof of the newly-released iPhone X, "Price is Right Celebrity Edition," and a digital short dubbed "Beers." In "Beers," the cast members played a group of guys ordering a round of drinks at a bar. They revealed intense backstories while trying to play it cool, resulting in a hilarious contrast.

Miley Cyrus was the musical guest for the evening, and she did not disappoint. She performed her single "Bad Mood" as well as a new song, "I Would Die for You," both of which were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. In signature Miley fashion, she also sang alongside Fred Armisen in a sketch titled "The Baby Steps," in which they portrayed lovers rekindling their romance in a backyard tiki hut.

Throughout the night, Larry David managed to deliver the brand of humor that he is famous for. He pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable in comedy while reminding us all that laughter can be found in even the most uncomfortable situations. The combination of David and Cyrus made for a hilarious and entertaining episode that left fans of SNL wishing they could see more.
