The 2020 SNL Election Special is a special episode of Saturday Night Live's 46th season that aired on October 22, 2020. This episode was a must-watch for fans of the show and anyone interested in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

This hour-long episode was hosted by comedian and SNL alumna, Maya Rudolph, who reprised her role as Senator Kamala Harris, Democratic nominee for Vice President. The show featured a combination of original sketches and classic throwback sketches, all geared towards the election.

The episode kicked off with a cold open sketch that spoofed the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Alec Baldwin once again portrayed President Trump, while Jim Carrey made his debut as former Vice President Biden. The sketch was full of the over-the-top antics that have become synonymous with SNL's political sketches.

In addition to the presidential debate sketch, the show featured several sketches that poked fun at the election itself. One sketch imagined what would happen if voters had to take a test in order to cast their ballots, while another imagined a cable news panel that was obsessed with showing off their clever election-related graphics.

Of course, the show also featured several hilarious impressions of prominent political figures. Along with Rudolph's already-mentioned Harris, the episode featured Beck Bennett as Vice President Mike Pence, who led the U.S. coronavirus task force, and Kate McKinnon as Rudy Giuliani, President Trump's personal attorney.

But not all the sketches in the election special were comedic. One pre-taped segment saw a group of bipartisan citizens who were working together to ensure that their communities could vote safely and efficiently. The segment touched on the many issues that voters are facing in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, including mail-in ballots, early voting and long lines at polling places.

As always, musical guests were featured on the show, with Megan Thee Stallion taking the stage to perform some of her biggest hits. The rapper brought the house down with her high-energy performance that had the audience dancing along.

While the 2020 SNL Election Special was definitely geared towards the upcoming election, it also had plenty of the classic humor that fans have come to expect from the show. From silly sketches to clever political commentary, this episode had something for everyone.

Overall, the 2020 SNL Election Special was a fun and informative look at the upcoming election. With a mix of political humor and live music, it was a perfect way to shake off the stress of election season and simply enjoy some laughs. Fans of Saturday Night Live and political humor alike will definitely want to check out this special episode.
