Ep 5. Bat Poop Crazy

The episode opens with Team Scorpion trying to solve a unique problem that involves a swarm of bats. The bats have been causing problems in a small town by swarming around a local refinery causing a hazard to nearby residents. The team is tasked with finding a way to safely disperse the bats and prevent them from returning to the area.

Walter and Happy are lowered into a large concrete holding tank at the refinery to observe the bats up close. They quickly learn that the bats are attracted to the warm, humid environment inside the tank and decide to use this to their advantage. They propose the idea of using fake bats coated in a chemical that will repel the real bats and force them to leave the area.

While working on the project, Paige receives a call from her mother, Veronica, who is in town for a few days. Veronica has always been a bit of a wildcard and Paige is nervous about how her mother’s presence may disrupt the team's progress on the project.

As her mother arrives on the scene, Paige is proven right to be worried. Veronica's overbearing and chaotic personality immediately clashes with the serious and focused nature of the team. In typical Veronica fashion, she decides to take matters into her own hands and gets herself tangled in one of the tanks.

Meanwhile, Toby and Sylvester work to prevent the bats from entering the holding tanks. By analyzing the bats' behavior, they are able to identify the exact location where the bats are entering the facility. Toby creates a mockup of that area and they begin testing various bat barriers to see which will be the most effective.

As the team works, Veronica's interference persists and headaches ensue. But soon, they realize that the bats are simply a minor inconvenience compared to the next challenge they face. As the refinery's pressure begins to fall, they quickly realize that a catastrophic explosion is imminent. With time running out, they must work together to find a solution before all is lost.

In the end, the team is able to solve the problem and prevent the refinery from exploding. However, as they begin to pack up and head home, they are surprised to see Veronica still hanging around the refinery. It turns out that Veronica had seen a UFO and was convinced it was real. The team plays along, making Veronica's day, and they head home knowing that they successfully completed yet another difficult challenge.
