In "My Conventional Wisdom," the twentieth episode of Scrubs sixth season, the story follows J.D., who is convinced that his girlfriend, Dr. Kim Briggs, is cheating on him. While J.D. is trying to come to terms with his suspicions, he also must deal with Dr. Cox, who's insistence on him taking care of his own patients forces him to work on a case that he might be unable to solve.

Kim's increasing absence and lack of eye contact with J.D. when they're together only cement his fears that she's seeing someone else. Meanwhile, Turk and Carla's babymoon plans hit a speed bump and Elliot straddles the line between professional and personal relationships when a patient attempts to hit on her.

When the hospital gets a visit from a health inspector, Dr. Kelso is forced to improve the hospital's cleanliness, and J.D. is enlisted to help. Though, with his mind elsewhere, J.D.'s cleaning efforts will need a little help from the Janitor, who offers him advice on relationships.

Amidst all this, Dr. Cox is adamant about the importance of teaching J.D. to take care of his own patients. He assigns J.D. a patient that has been discharged from the hospital to follow up with him after he returns home.

The episode follows J.D. as he tries to navigate his personal and professional life, struggling to handle the pressure as he juggles his own patients and growing suspicions about his girlfriend. While Dr. Cox pushes J.D. to take responsibility for his patients, he also tries to motivate him to solve the case of the patient he's following up with outside the hospital.

As the episode progresses, J.D. slowly starts to suspect that his girlfriend may be innocent of any wrongdoing, and his search to find out the truth is complicated by a run-in with her ex-boyfriend. In the process, J.D. learns a valuable life lesson about jumping to conclusions and working through his insecurities and doubts.

The episode ends on a bittersweet note, with J.D. coming to terms with the fact that Kim may not be the perfect match for him. He reflects on his journey of self-discovery, and the lessons that he's learned along the way. Meanwhile, Dr. Cox congratulates J.D. on a job well done with his patient, and the two reshuffle their relationship as mentor and mentee.

Overall, "My Conventional Wisdom" is a poignant and thought-provoking episode that delves into themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. Fans of the show will appreciate the continued growth and development of the main characters, as well as the show's trademark blend of humor and heart.
