Sesame Street Season 19 Episode 2 Rooftop Sing-Along

  • November 17, 1987

Elmo and his friends are excited to sing on the rooftop in Sesame Street season 19 episode 2, "Rooftop Sing-Along." The show starts with Elmo and Abby Cadabby questioning what they should do for fun on a beautiful day in Sesame Street. Elmo comes up with the idea of singing together, but they soon realize that they won't be able to fit all of their friends in his playroom. That's when they notice the rooftop and decide to have a sing-along party there.

The characters of Sesame Street quickly proceed to the rooftop to prepare for the party. There, they arrange chairs and prepare a microphone stand, readying everything for their singing contest. Initially, some of the characters seemed unsure about singing on the rooftop with no stage or podium, but Elmo encourages them to give it a try, stating that they will all enjoy it once they start singing.

As the rooftop party begins, Elmo welcomes his friends to join in for the fun. Everyone starts singing their favorite tunes, with some characters performing as soloists and others performing as a group. They sing fun songs like "Old MacDonald Had A Farm," as well as Sesame Street classics like "C Is For Cookie" and "Rubber Duckie."

The Rooftop Sing-Along episode has plenty of catchy tunes, including pop songs like "I'm Yours," which aims to teach friendship and how to handle rejection. The episode also features performances from Elmo and his friends' favorite guest stars, who sing along to classic Sesame Street songs while teaching the characters (and viewers) essential life skills.

Apart from singing, the characters engage in various other activities on the rooftop. Cookie Monster is seen enjoying his favorite snack, cookies, on one of the chairs, while Kaitlin the Cat helps make sandwiches. Even some of the animals from Sesame Street, including a horse and a chicken, are in attendance, enjoying the party and singing along.

This episode of Sesame Street is great for children as it teaches valuable life lessons alongside the fun of singing. For example, the characters learn how to be good friends while supporting each other during their performances. They also learn about perseverance when Grover struggles to sing in tune, but with the help of his friends, he improves his singing.

The episode ends with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and their friends singing one last song before they head back inside. They even encourage viewers to sing along with their families and friends. "Rooftop Sing-Along" is a fun and entertaining episode of Sesame Street, full of catchy tunes and valuable teachings that parents and children alike will enjoy.
