Frank tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Sammi, who has recently been released from prison. In an effort to make things right with Sammi, Frank tries to offer her financial assistance and support as she tries to get her life back on track. However, when Sammi finds out the real reason for Frank's sudden interest in her life, she is left feeling angry and resentful towards her father once again.

Meanwhile, Ian and Fiona team up to try and get Monica's Social Security benefits in order to help pay for Ford's legal fees. This forces the siblings to confront their feelings about their mother's death and their own complicated relationships with her. Elsewhere, Lip struggles to come up with the funds to pay for his tuition and decides to take a drastic step to try and make ends meet.

Debbie finds herself struggling to juggle the demands of motherhood with her new job at the welding shop. When her boss asks her to work overtime on Christmas Eve, Debbie is forced to choose between her work and her family. Carl becomes involved in a risky new business venture with some of his fellow ex-cons and quickly realizes that he may be in over his head. Finally, Kev and V put on a holiday show for the bar in an effort to drum up business and spread some Christmas cheer.
