Shop This Room is an interior design show that premiered on HGTV in 2012, featuring Danielle Colding and Barry Vargas as the co-hosts. The show follows the duo as they transform dull and poorly-decorated rooms into beautiful, stylish and functional spaces with unique design concepts.

The show primarily focuses on the process of designing and redecorating various types of rooms, such as living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and even outdoor spaces. The co-hosts work closely with the homeowners to understand their vision for the space, their tastes and preferences, and their lifestyle needs, in order to create personalized designs that suit their unique requirements.

Each episode features a different room makeover, with the co-hosts guiding the viewers through the design process, from selecting the color scheme and furniture, to choosing the accessories and décor that tie the room together. The viewers get to witness the transformation from a cluttered and mundane space to a stunning, inviting and functional room, with expert tips and design tricks along the way.

One of the unique features of Shop This Room is the way the co-hosts break down the design process into specific aspects, such as color, texture, pattern and layout, and explain how each of these elements works together to create a cohesive design. For example, they might highlight how a bold accent wall can create a focal point in a room, or how mixing different patterns in a cohesive way can add interest and depth to the space.

Another aspect of the show that sets it apart is the focus on affordability and accessibility. While some design shows feature elaborate and expensive makeovers that are out of reach for the average homeowner, Shop This Room emphasizes smart and affordable solutions that anyone can implement. The co-hosts often source furniture and décor from a range of sources, from high-end designer pieces to more affordable options, and show how to mix and match them for a cohesive and stylish look.

In addition to the design aspect, Shop This Room also highlights the importance of functionality and practicality. The co-hosts often ask the homeowners about their daily routines and habits, in order to design a space that works for them and their lifestyle. This might include incorporating storage solutions, creating a smart layout that flows well, or selecting pieces that can serve multiple purposes.

Overall, Shop This Room is a fun and informative show that showcases the power of design to transform any space. With expert advice, affordable solutions, and a focus on practicality, the co-hosts demonstrate how to create beautiful and functional rooms that reflect the homeowners' tastes and needs. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or just love a good redesign, this show is sure to inspire and entertain.

Becky and Dave have a boring beige kitchen. Danielle designs a beautiful new kitchen inspired by a vintage painting of the sea and a ginger jar. Since the kitchen is small she lofts the ceiling to open up the space, and gives them an island, along with dark walnut cabinets, a white quartz countertop and a slate grey cork floor. She also adds a built in hutch which will add storage and style with its chalkboard cabinets, Moroccan tile backsplash and custom shutters for the windows. A whitewashed table and beachy accents finishes off the room.
