Elisheva is not Akiva's type, but he finds himself drawn to her open and honest personality. However, his feelings become complicated when he discovers she is already engaged to someone else. Meanwhile, Akiva's sister Gitti is also dealing with romantic struggles. She has developed feelings for a co-worker, Lippe, but is hesitant to pursue a relationship due to both her own insecurities and Lippe's previous relationships with other women in the office.

As always, the episode also portrays the larger world of the Haredi Jewish community in Jerusalem. Through various subplots, we see the ways in which the community is both interconnected and divided. One subplot concerns Akiva's niece, Toviya, who is dealing with issues surrounding her upcoming marriage. Her husband-to-be has refused to allow her younger brother to be in their wedding, causing a rift in the family.

In another subplot, we see the struggles of Akiva's grandfather, Shulem. Ever since the death of his wife, Shulem has been struggling to find a sense of purpose. He spends much of his time searching for answers in religious text, but is also grappling with feelings of loneliness and regret. This comes to a head in the episode when he visits his wife's grave and has a heart-to-heart with her.

Overall, Shtisel season 2 episode 11 continues to explore the richly-detailed world and characters of the show. With its focus on love and family relationships, this episode is both heartwarming and emotionally complex.
