Ep 13. Suspect

Clark Kent once again finds himself in a rather uncomfortable position in Smallville season 2 episode 13 titled 'Suspect'. When Coach Quigley, the beloved coach of the Smallville High School's football team, is brutally murdered in his office, Clark becomes a prime suspect in the case. A fingerprint on the murder weapon, a paperweight, matches Clark's, which mean he is in big trouble.

As the investigation unfolds, Clark's friends and family, including Lana Lang, Chloe Sullivan, and Jonathan Kent work tirelessly to clear his name by proving his innocence. They believe that Clark is being framed, and they are determined to find out who has the motive and the opportunity to kill Coach Quigley.

While Clark is in disbelief that someone could frame him for murder, he realizes that he's not living an ordinary life, which means he is often a target of ill-wishers and enemies. Meanwhile, Clark's arch-rival and teammate on the football team, Whitney Fordman, is also a suspect in the case. Whitney has a motive to kill Coach Quigley as he'd recently benched him for poor performance, shattering his dreams of becoming a future professional football player.

As more evidence surfaces, Clark's friends gather to piece together the information they have and lay out a plan of action to prove his innocence. They get their hands on security camera footage from the school that shows an unknown female figure entering and exiting Coach Quigley's office around the same time that he was killed. Jonathan and Clark investigate further and discover a strange set of footprints outside the office, leading them to suspect that the killer might not be human. It gradually dawns on Clark that the real killer might be a LuthorCorp-controlled 'bio-engineered being.'

As Clark and his friends follow up their leads, Whitney Fordman's father pulls some media strings to try and turn the public against Clark. He accuses Clark of being a murderer and quickly gains traction across the town with a rally outside of the General Store. Clark decides that the best way to clear his name is to step forward and tell the truth, even if it means losing everything.

As Clark bravely takes to the stage, the real killer is finally revealed, and it isn't quite what anyone expected. Unbeknownst to Clark and his friends, there is a covert plot to take control of the town through the creation of 'bio-engineered beings.' Whitney Fordman's father is revealed to be the one who orchestrated everything as he sees it as the only way left for him to take control of the town and fulfill his megalomaniacal dreams.

In the end, Clark manages to save the day and clear his name once and for all. As the episode draws to a close, Clark is left to reflect on how easy it is to lose everything in a small town like Smallville, where secrets and lies lurk around every corner.
