Ep 6. Academy Week #2

Academy Week #2 of So You Think You Can Dance season 14 follows the second round of auditions for the Top 10 dancers who will move on to the live shows. The episode begins with the All-Stars, who are former contestants, teaching choreography to 10 dancers each. The dancers are then split into groups of five and must perform their routine for the judges and the other contestants.

On the first day of Academy Week, there are many stand-out performances, including a contemporary duo who perform an emotionally charged routine that impresses the judges. There is also a hip hop routine that receives a standing ovation from the judges, and a ballroom performance that the judges describe as "perfect." However, not all of the performances go smoothly, and a few dancers struggle with the choreography.

The second day of Academy Week features the dreaded "group round," where the contestants are put into groups of four or five and must choreograph a routine together overnight. The contestants are given a limited amount of time to plan their dance before hitting the stage to perform in front of the judges and All-Stars.

The group performances are a mixed bag, with some groups creating cohesive and memorable routines, while others struggle with conflicting personalities and lackluster choreography. One group, in particular, faces drama when one member leaves the group at the last minute, forcing the remaining members to adjust their routine on the fly.

As the episode comes to a close, the judges deliberate and make the difficult decision of which dancers will move on to the live shows. The judges praise the contestants for their tenacity and hard work throughout Academy Week, but ultimately must choose the 10 dancers who they feel have the most potential to succeed on the show.
