In "Starvin' Marvin," the eighth episode of South Park's first season, the children of South Park Elementary are learning about world hunger. They are asked by their teacher to donate cans of food to help those in need, but instead of bringing in actual cans, the boys come up with the idea of using rocks to represent cans, so that they can keep the real food for themselves.

Meanwhile, in Ethiopia, a group of starving children stumble upon a air-dropped box of care packages that contains a single copy of "The Happy Days" Halloween special. One of the children puts the VHS tape into a 1986 Walkman and listens to Henry Winkler describe Halloween in the United States. The children are attacked by their country's military and forced to flee. In the chaos, the Marvin, the child who had the VHS and Walkman, is separated from the others.

Marvin eventually makes his way to South Park, where he is initially taken in by the boys. They soon realize, however, that they don't have the resources to take care of Marvin and they need to find him a new home. They decide to contact Sally Struthers, who had been hosting "feed the children" commercials on television. Sally suggests the boys travel to Africa to personally deliver the food and other supplies to the children.

The boys encounter several obstacles on their journey, including a group of space aliens who abduct them and try to replicate them into a chicken sandwich. However, they eventually arrive in Ethiopia and distribute the food to the hungry children. Marvin is overjoyed to be reunited with his fellow Ethiopians and the boys return home, thankful for the experience.

"Starvin' Marvin" is a satirical take on the issue of world hunger and the way it is often portrayed in the media. The episode pokes fun at Sally Struthers and the perceived guilt-trips of her charity commercials. It also highlights the absurdity of trying to solve a global problem by sending cans of food to people in need.

Overall, "Starvin' Marvin" is a classic South Park episode that manages to be both hilarious and thought-provoking. The episode's themes are as relevant today as they were when the show first aired, and it remains a fan favorite among South Park viewers.
