When Stan lies about his future career plans to a visiting motivational speaker, he is forced to conjure up a fake version of himself from the future to prove he's kept his promise.

South Park's Season 6 Episode 16 titled My Future Self 'n' Me is a satirical take on the idea of a motivational speaker who makes unrealistic life plans with children only to come back and check whether they have kept their promises. The episode starts with a motivational speaker, who seems to be an inspirational and positive influence, giving a talk to young students about how important the future is. He encourages the children to take responsibility for their lives, plan ahead, and make something of themselves.

Stan, like many students, is convinced that he can and will become a successful businessman when he grows up. The motivational speaker then calls upon him and asks him to make a solemn oath to follow through on his plan, which Stan gladly obliges. However, Stan's euphoria is short-lived when the speaker announces that he'll be visiting him in a few days to check up on his progress.

Now, Stan is caught between a rock and a hard place. He doesn't know what he wants to do with his life and doesn't want to disappoint the motivational speaker. In an effort to fool the speaker, Stan confesses to his friends that he needs to come up with a plan to impress the speaker. His friends, who aren't known for their good ideas, suggest that he hire someone to pretend to be him from the future.

As Stan becomes more desperate, he turns to an old man who offers to be his future self for a small fee. The man, who speaks in a cheesy future voice, helps Stan craft a believable plan for his future. He paints a picture where future Stan is a successful businessman who has it all, but at a cost. Future Stan tells him that he's living a lie and that he's barely keeping it together. Then, future Stan tells him that he's come back in time to make sure that he doesn't make the same mistake.

Surprisingly, the plan works, and the motivational speaker is thoroughly impressed with Stan's progress. However, things start to unravel when Stan's future self starts to take over his life. Stan's dad starts to notice strange occurrences around the house and takes it upon himself to investigate. His findings lead him to believe that Stan's future self may not be everything that he seems.

Without giving away any spoilers, South Park's Season 6 Episode 16 titled My Future Self 'n' Me, is a thought-provoking take on the idea of self-improvement and the lengths people will go to impress others. It showcases the pressure children feel to have a plan for their future and the need to believe in something that may or may not happen. The episode is comedic at times, but it also touches on important themes such as identity, desperation, and the consequences of making false promises. It's an interesting watch that will leave you contemplating about the various takeaways from it.
