Ep 1. Breakaway

As they journey further and further from Earth, the crewmembers are confronted with new challenges and obstacles. They come into contact with mysterious alien beings and encounter strange new worlds. They must contend with lack of resources and the pressing need to ensure the survival of everyone on board.

The episode "Breakaway" serves as an excellent introduction to the world of Space 1999, laying out the stakes of the show in a clear and exciting way. Notably, the series was created and produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, who were already well-known for their previous work on Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet.
