In a 23rd century post-apocalyptic world where people are put to death at the age of thirty in order to maintain their society, Logan's Run tells the story of Logan, a "Sandman" or law enforcement agent and assassin whose job it is to terminate "Runners," people who try to escape their fate. When the computer that runs the city discovers the existence of an underground resistance movement that helps Runners find a mythical place called "Sanctuary," where they will be safe, it orders Logan to find and destroy it by forcing Logan to become a Runner himself. Now faced with termination four years earlier than he should, he and his companion Jessica must now find Sanctuary not to destroy it, but to save their own lives. They are pursued by Francis, his former Sandman friend, who is sent to terminate them. This 1976-77 CBS series based on the 1976 movie of the same name follows Logan, Jessica, and their android companion Rem on a cross-country journey to find the legendary Sanctuary before Francis can catch up with them and kill them. It starred Gregory Harrison as Logan, Heather Menzies-Urich as Jessica, Randy Powell as Francis, and Donald Moffat as Rem.
